Flowers soaked in liquid nitrogen and shattered on impact by Jon Shireman

Aaand another floral post. I guess I really have a thing for stuff like this.. It’s interesting to see that flowers could still look very pretty even when shredded/scattered about. It gives off a kind of edgy vibe and though I love softer floral looks, I’m not opposed to this either! Its really a cool perspective of flowers

Cloud by Caitlind r.c. Brown

Created out of 6,000 light bulbs the interactive installation invites visitors to pull the cords and turn the lights on and off as spectators witness the cloud shimmer and flicker as bulbs flip between light and dark. Incredibly out of the 6,000 bulbs, 5,000 of them are actually old burnt out bulbs donated to the artists by the public. The idea being that instead of wasting bulbs by throwing them away they would be put to a better, and more creative use, by turning trash in to treasure, and waste in to art.

I absolutely love installation art! This cloud is just so cool looking and photogenic! It reminds me of the idea i gave my friend to dress up as Mufasa for halloween and have cotton clouds around her for greater effect…She obviously didnt push though with it though…

These two pictures, the last one most especially, are so captivating! I just had to reblog them! I love the soft colors and the gentle/delicate feel of the two. Theyre both so simple yet their effect is so great! I wonder how the photographer was able to edit the last one as well as he did though. Its great that it was well done because it so easy to spot a badly edit one!

Origami Portraits by Marc Fichou

Im extremely bad at origami but it doesnt mean that I can”t appreciate it… This seems to be more a hipster take on the usual origami :)) I wonder how the artist figured out to whole thing— it seems quite complicated to follow… esp the fox one!

What I especially love about these works is that they’ve got some wit about them. The winner was portrayed were akin to a modern Escher them. I also love that there is one or more images incorporated in each work. It amazes me how anyone could even conceptualize putting two unrelated things togther to form something rich in meaning…

Oil paintings by Zhong-Yang Huang.

These paintings are so extremely breathtaking that it hurts to look at them… how can someone have so much talent, really. The world is unfair. I love seeing all the blues and the golds! They feel so magical to me (and you know how I’m a sucker for that). The painting with the geese seems a little out of place in the collection (seeing that the others have more obvious Asian themes to them) but its still just as equally beautiful as the rest of them!

Waves by Chalermphol Harnchakkha

I love illustrations like these!—The clean lines, semi-saturated color, and the whole whimsical feel. I love it all *__* Wish I could draw and color like this. I dont even know where to begin…

Toby de Silva - Immortal (2012)

Removed from the catacombs of Rome in the 17th century, the relics of 12 martyred saints were attired in the jeweled regalia of the previous period and reinterred in a remote church on the German/Czech border

I may perhaps be the most “duwag” person in the world but for some reason i find myself interested in this collection! Maybe its the presence of gold and all things shiny :-? What I find weird however is that they used the bones of martyred saints as models. I dont think they would’ve wanted to be dressed in such luxurious garments what with the whole giving up of riches to be with God in heaven thing.

Artist Rashad Alakbarov uses suspended translucent objects and other found materials to create light and shadow paintings on walls.

This is one interesting and resourceful project for sure! It mustve been hell to arrange all those bottles into the final product. At least now we know what else to do with empty plastic bottles! Although I do like the first one more, it doesnt seem so practical to me…
